Is hospitality in our blood? What’s certain is that our lakeside hotel by the reservoir has been firmly in family hands for three generations—and the chances are good that it will remain so! Much has changed, expanded, and improved since 1968, but we have always stayed true to our philosophy. We want to offer you a sense of well-being that goes beyond the classic wellness experience in the pool and saunas. The power of the elements strengthens you not only in our wellness areas but also in the restaurant and, above all, in the uniquely beautiful nature of the Vulkaneifel.

Once upon a time
It was in 1968 when Johanna and Josef Wipperfeld, the grandparents of the current hosts, fulfilled a dream. In the lush Gerolstein region, they opened a 43-bed hotel. Over the years, it was continually expanded; in 1978, an indoor pool was added, and the number of regular guests kept growing. The charm of the family-run lakeside hotel in Gerolstein was well received and continued when their daughter Petra and her husband Anton Schinagl took over in 1982. In the following years, the lakeside hotel by the reservoir was expanded with new rooms and a wellness area, while the family atmosphere remained intact.
What will it become?
After their training years, the children Nicole and Sascha gradually joined the family business and took over the management of the hotel in 2016. Together with their partners and children, they continue the family tradition at the lakeside hotel, filling the establishment with professionalism and warmth. "We have recognized how much potential there is," says Sascha Schinagl, which is why the two juniors completely renovated the hotel. Today, you enter a 4-star wellness hotel that knows how to honor its roots while bravely forging new paths. Nicole and Sascha have simply made what was even more beautiful.
